Mystery package was indeed SuSE 9.3. Also, a copy of The Book arrived today - thanks Roger. All the rest of my books have also arrived.
Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool, what a result, although we probably should have won, a seriously good save from Cech, and also we should have had a penalty when Carvalho blatently fouled in the box.
Going to see H2G2 on Friday night, really looking forward to it. Went to Wagamama in Nottingham last night, which was really nice. Slightly odd way of serving the food and seating people, but the food was delicious, and the toilets were spotless - full marks on that score.
Good, relaxing weekend - didn't do an awful lot, although did catch up with MR on Sunday - hadn't seen him in ages, was good to see him.
Weirdness: I have placed two orders for books for my course in the last few days (both on Saturday in fact). One was despatched yesterday afternoon, by Royal Mail, and arrived today. The other was despatched this afternoon by UPS. So, what did Business Post try deliver on behalf of FedEx yesterday afternoon, and again today while I was at college? All will be revealed in the next 48 hours when it is delivered to me at college.
Now that I think about it, I think it may be my boxed copy of SuSE 9.3.
Christology exam was this afternoon, reckon it went well enough, and who knows? Maybe very well...
Uploaded new galeon packages built against the new SuSE mozilla 1.7.7 packages, and also added an updated sources.list that includes the mozilla component as well as the option to use patch packages from SuSE.
Rob: You're right, f-spot is indeed killer, so I'm currently giving it some en_GB love - damn it has a lot of strings... ![[;)]](http://jamesthevicar.com/images/wink.gif)
Been reading Roger's blog. Those in the UK please remember to use your vote on May 5th, read Roger's blog, read reliable news sources - make sure you're well informed when you scribble that cross on the paper.
As for me, well I'm disenfranchised in this election, because of when we moved and applied to join the register of electors in our new home, we received a [very polite] letter from Broxtowe Council telling us that we would not be registered in time to vote on May 5th (at that time only the local elections were confirmed for that date of course). That won't stop me providing a view on the election as the campaign progresses though.
Remember Iraq folks, remember that the Labour government lied to us about Weapons of Mass Destruction - there were none there, don't let the passage of time cloud your memory on that. Remember that the Tories supported the government every step of the way towards war. The only one of the three major parties who opposed the war against Iraq were the Liberal Democrats. At some point I'll post a brief (~1000 words) critique of the war in Iraq and how it compares to classical Just War Theory.
In Birmingham and Blackburn, members of the Labour party have been convicted of electoral fraud by means of rigging postal votes. This is a cynical and desperate move on the part of a party that knows its credibility has been badly damaged over the last few years - don't let them get away with it.
Both Labour and the Tories are trying to play on people's fears, and in fact create new ones (think travellers and gypsies from a few weeks ago) in order that they can then be seen as the only solution to those fears, please don't fall for it, get informed on the issues and then vote accordingly. Don't think your vote doesn't count or that elections can't change anything - they can and they do if the people take them seriously. Decisions are made by those who show up - Show up on May 5th, I can't, you must.
Uploaded new tomboy and gimp packages (0.3.2 and 2.2.6 respectively).
Still high as a kite after yesterday - the Reds go marching on...
Committed en_GB translation for fast-user-switch-applet
Liverpool 0-0 Juventus (Liverpool win 2-1 on aggregate). Listened to the match on Five Live superb performance by Liverpool, they controlled the game, and had the better chances by the sound of it (most notably by Milan Baros - please don't leave Milan), Alonso played the full match, and Cissé returned for the final 15 minutes.
However, UEFA need to discipline the Italian FA seriously for the behaviour of Italian fans throughout this year's European club tournaments, from Roma earlier in the season with objects thrown at the referee, to yesterday's disgraceful scenes in Milan, to trouble before and after tonight's match largely (not exclusively, I know) down to Juve fans. This is simply unacceptable, and apparently, the Italian police made no real effort to stop the Juve fans throwing missiles and flares at the Liverpool fans after the game. I'm appalled.
Yay! Made my first GNOME CVS commits earlier this morning - en_GB translations for procman and nautilus-cd-burner.
Submitted procman translation to Gareth, nautilus-cd-burner is ready, hoping to be able to commit it myself soon though
Also added myself to the crew list on the British English page.
Spent the day tidying the downstairs of the house, and yet it somehow looks even more chaotic than when I started - had planned to watch Apocalypse Now Redux when I was done - not much hope of that now.
Start placement at the Malt Cross tomorrow.
![[I have a WLAN available]](http://jamesthevicar.com/images/png/thumb-desktop-20050410.png)
I'm guessing it's one of these, and it gives me an IP address, but I can't resolve any names, or traceroute beyond the access point itself.
Spent the day in Oxford yesterday with Liz, and Michael who's over here from the States working on a Ph.D. - absolutely great day, but tyhen, it always is in Oxford ![[:)]](http://jamesthevicar.com/images/smiley.gif)
Well, been quite a busy week, Kent and Watford on Tuesday, seeing Graham in Kent and then various people in Watford. Was quite exhausted by the time I got back to watch the Liverpool - Juventus match. A very emotional occasion, and a better result than I'd hoped for. Shame about the away goal, but Carson had had a very good game up until then.
Wednesday I met with the staff team at St Luke's where I'll be doing my placement next year, was a very good meeting, and looks like being a fantastic placement.
