Possum Progress

Planet SUSE hosting change

As of today, Planet SUSE has a new hosting arrangement which means a couple of things: It should be more reliable. It should be more responsive Many thanks to the many, many readers who have, by the traffic they generate, made this move necessary.

Fabulous themes!

Many thanks to Sandy for linking to the Shiki Colo[u]rs themes. he suggests the Wise version for openSUSE – that would be a fabulous default option although I like a dark/blue combo so I’m using the Brave variant. Get them all from the GNOME Colo[u]rs project – you’ll want the No-Murrine version as the gtk2-engine-murrine …

openSUSE 11.1: Hibernation working with nouveau!

[Ref] I found some notes in the nouveau wiki and tried adding Option “ShadowFB” “on” to the Device section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf. It disables hardware acceleration (boo!) but it works (yay!) Update: On the other hand, it does cause the machine to freeze when one logs out. Back to the non-free option…

openSUSE 11.1: NVIDIA hit and miss!

I’ve previously blogged about the good things in openSUSE 11.1 but now I have to turn it on its head a bit. The second thing on my list was the good state of the nouveau drive in the Build Service (X11rivers:Video) and so when I got around to installing on my laptop yesterday (which for …
